Based on my vast experience with big technology changes that will revolutionize everything (from CAD/CAM to Crypto), here is going what I think is going to happen with artificial intelligence over the next few years. For fun and contrast, I asked ChatGPT’s to predict how AI will evolve in business over the next 5 years. You can read its’ answer here.

Lex’s AI Predictions

Ultimately, there are only going to be a few choices of big AI engines in different segments. This is the scariest part to me, but it is not like we can really fight it.

There is going to be a lot of teeth gnashing by people over which platform is best.

There are going to be multiple AI tools at work inside organizations. I don’t think that they are going to talk all that well to each other at first. The attempts at integration will come later.

Organizations are going to start teams for people to explore AI. These teams are going to be frustrated because it is going to be hard to get buy-in for the organization.

There are going to be AI skunk work projects which build proof of concepts.

There are going to be a lot of articles written about the industries that will be effected. These will be mostly wrong.

There are going to be a lot of management consultancies popping up to help organizations adopt AI.

There is going to be the AI backlash when things don’t work out as planned. When the dust settles,  there will be AI 2.0 when the lessons of AI are learned and the next round comes back wiser.

At that point, we can expect a new wave of savvier target startups focused the new AI paradigm.
