The problem with IT is that it is built around logic.

Logic can be good
Logic is rational

But logic can be very limiting. It is often built on assumptions.

The assumptions can be very good. The assumption can help you run your organization in an organized way.

This is great if you want to be like every one else.

But what if you want to be different and use different assumptions?

In that case, it is all up to you. It may be a terrible idea or it may be a great idea, but the risk of trying it may be too high.

Coding your own software is costly and time consuming and it is hard to justify on a hunch.

Perhaps the key is to develop ways to test your own illogic.
